SNAICC-National Voice for our Children conference

Friends of SNAICC and Wendy Brooks & Partners were proud to attend the 7th National Conference run by SNAICC-National Voice for our Children last week.

We were so inspired to hear about the work that has been carried out by SNAICC and communities from around Australia since the release of the Bringing Them Home Report 20 years ago. But also, of course, to be reminded of the pressing work still to be done.

Group at SNAICC Conference
Presentation by Karen Williams (The Indigenous Literacy Foundation) with Kali McKewon (Supervisor at Thursday Island), Rhonda Renwick (Kindred Spirits Foundation), and our own Di Lucas, Emily Cheesman and Sue Beecher.

As Professor Mick Dodson discussed, the telling of the stories is a healing process, however what’s most important is that these stories are told AND heard.
